My inspiration for Flavame are the cherished memories of growing up with the wonderful aromas and flavours of the food from my childhood.
Blessed with a Portuguese heritage from my mother’s family and an Indian heritage on my father’s side, recipes were lovingly prepared in our home that celebrated a rich and varied fusion of flavours. Crafted from blending spices and seasonings, only the highest quality natural ingredients were used.
When my parents arrived in the UK back in 1953, facing numerous challenges along the way, they brought with them a strong passion for the unique flavours connecting them to their heritage. The cherished moments we shared around our kitchen table were a tribute to our family traditions and our ancestors, with each bite a taste of home.
I wanted to create a brand that would capture the diverse flavours of our heritage, drawing inspiration from my family story and so the Flavame brand was born.
My inspiration for Flavame was also influenced by my grandmother’s entrepreneurship. In the early 1920s, at the age of 21, and whilst a devoted wife and mother she opened a small shop in the family home of Buzi, the Portuguese colony of Mozambique. Her venture grew into a successful business, which eventually expanded into a chain of franchise shops.
She was a truly inspirational lady and a real entrepreneur of her time. My mother, the youngest of her five children inherited my grandmother’s creativity and strength. I have been truly inspired by these qualities, passed down in our family, through the generations.
Today, as a mother and grandmother myself, I am inspired by my ancestors and dedicated to preserving the authentic ingredients and flavours that have come to embody Flavame.
